Switching and Routing in Optical Networks

The OK 2012 conference and exhibition are traditionally focused on the promising fields of optical communications, fiber optics, access and backbone networks and applied photonics.
The primary aim of the conference and exhibition is to inform scientists, researchers, technicians, managers and industry workers with the development trends in the field of optical communications.
This year the event will focus namely on switching and routing in optical networks: Up to what transmission rates can switching and routing be done in the electrical domain and what is the limit above which this has to be done in the optical domain? Should the networks consist of transparent optical channels or should the optical packet switching be applied?
The conference languages are English (Scientific section), Czech and Slovak (the other sections).
The conference will be divided into the following 3 sections:
The topics will namely include:
- Backbone and Metropolitan Area Networks
- Optical Fiber Access Networks
- Methods of Increasing Transmission Capacity of Optical Fiber Links and Development of Broadband Services
- Applications of Fiber Optics
